Donald F. Rowan, B.A., LLB.
Since 1990, Don has practised family law in London, Ontario and Fredericton, New Brunswick. He has extensive experience in all areas of family law practice. He has a particular interest in collaborative family law and he is a member of the River Valley Collaborative Law Group of Fredericton. Don is experienced in estate matters, including the preparation of wills and powers of attorney, applications on behalf of the infirm, and applications to the probate court. Don is experienced in all aspects of real estate practice. He will do his best to meet your legal needs.
Elizabeth M. McGrath, B.A. (Hons. Sociology), LLB.
Elizabeth (Liz) McGrath has practiced family law for over 21 years, initially with an established family law firm in the Greater Toronto Area, Ontario and currently with Rowan McGrath Lawyers, upon her family’s return to Fredericton.
Liz’s dedicated approach to legal matters enables her to respond compassionately, effectively and practically to her clients’ needs. Liz is especially sensitive to and experienced with separations involving high conflict or domestic abuse.
Over the years Liz has taken the initiative to utilize ‘out of court’ alternatives in resolving family disputes. She was a founding Director of the Collaborative Family Law Association of Durham Region, Ontario which was established in 2004 and joined the River Valley Collaborative Law Group in Fredericton upon her commencing practicing in Fredericton January 2011. Liz chaired the advanced collaborative training session in November 2013, with the collaborative trainer/facilitator, Victoria Smith. The Collaborative Process assists clients to resolve disputes between separating partners with respect and honesty outside a Court process.
Liz is a skilled negotiator and litigator and has appeared before the Ontario Courts and the Courts of Queen’s Bench Family Division in New Brunswick.
Mae Florina, B.B.A., J.D
Born in Russia and raised in Greece, Mae came to Canada when she was 16 years old. She obtained her B.B.A. at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, BC in 2010 and her J.D. from the University of New Brunswick in 2013. While at law school, Mae coached moot court for two years and participated in a number of competitive moots.
Mae’s prior work experience includes working as a Corporate Specialist for Docutek, a legal search house in Fredericton, NB; as an Administration and Communications Manager for a large IT firm in Toronto, ON; and as a Financial Services Manager for a Big Five Bank in Vancouver, BC, where she earned an award as Top Customer Service Representative of the Year.
Mae completed her articling year with a Fredericton lawyer dedicated to family law and criminal law practice. Mae was called to the New Brunswick Bar in June 2016. She concentrates her practice on family law, criminal law, and wills and estates.
Mae combines her multi-cultural background with her diverse work and academic experience to effectively assist individuals and families in need of legal representation and advice.
Peggy Karen Weale, Legal Assistant
A native New Brunswicker, Peggy is a graduate of the Miramichi Valley High School and the New Brunswick Community College at Woodstock where she earned a diploma as a legal secretary. She worked with the well-known Fredericton law firm of Atkinson and Atkinson for 21 years.
Peggy also worked as a court reporter with the New Brunswick Court of Queen’s Bench and later joined Gordon Gregory’s law office for a number of years. She joined Rowan McGrath Lawyers in 2013 and is an integral member of our legal team. Peggy is dedicated to her family and home, and enjoys gardening and reading. Peggy is committed to assisting the lawyers and supporting our clients.
